Central to the mission of the Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach is community and educational outreach. Typically, our visiting artists are in Palm Beach for several days prior to their performance, and they are often performing in schools, conducting workshops and masterclasses or performing for underserved segments of our community.
To date artists from the Cleveland Orchestra, the Emerson, Escher and Hermes Quartets, the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Itzhak Perlman Music Program and distinguished soloists have performed for students of all ages in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
Jupiter residents Sandra and Paul Goldner have made a $50,000 matching grant available to The Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach to set up an educational program to foster the independent study of chamber music in our schools.
The purpose of this new program, The Goldner Educational Initiative, is to introduce the independent study of music for small ensembles, in sessions led by professional musicians. Coaching in teamwork, collaboration and listening skills will allow students to develop musically and individually as they work towards a common performance goal.
Students involved in the program will be featured in performances throughout the year at locations in Palm Beach. The unique strings programs at Palm Beach Elementary, The Conservatory School, and Bak Middle Schools serve the children of the Town of Palm Beach and the cities of North Palm Beach and West Palm Beach. Our program also attracts students from across Palm Beach County that are part of the Palm Beach County Choice School Program.
Additional funding for our educational programs has been provided by Carolyn Jenkins-Jaeger and the SED Children’s Fund. Funding is also provided by The Myerberg Family Foundation and the Community Foundation of Palm Beach County.
